Traveling down to the marshlands of Pawleys Island for the Southern invitational yesterday allotted a few hours of staring at the road ahead to allow the mind to wander.
This year was the first year that I felt great and was on a good trajectory, or so I thought. This summer was not the one I had planned, with this nagging and frustrating injury still having my full attention for the fourth month, I have to remind myself that I’m human. As we all are. We are not machines capable of pushing through day after day without failure. Whether it’s work, training, healing, or attempting to achieve something greater than yourself, you can become so fixated that you can’t see how fortunate life is. Grateful to be in the Palmetto state for a great event, grateful for the life I have, even the pain that comes along.
These ephemeral chapters of life are going to be what we look back on, realizing how good we had it, even though it feels heavy now.
Enjoy the best moments, make the most of the worst, and have some patience for yourself and the greater plan.
Peyton.
